Just another soggy Sunday........

Yup, another rainy day in WA. no surprise really. Except the weatherman DID say it was supposed to be a mostly dry weekend (granted it was said last week and it IS a weatherman doing the prediction). I was really looking forward to cleaning out the chicken coop and barn from all the "leftovers" from the critters during the snow party.

No such luck, guess I'll have to wait. Darn. :P I decided to do a little picture taking during feeding this morning.

I'll start with the most shocking picture....I don't normally take pics of myself (let alone let anyone else take one) and I definitely try to at least run a brush through my hair beforehand. Not this time. Here I am in all my glory, no make-up, sweats and messy hair. Ginger didn't care though, I love how animals enjoy visiting with you no matter what you look like. :)

There was plenty of soggy poultry waiting to be fed.....the guineas looked the worse for the wear.....madder than a wet guinea? (or does that only work for hens?)

Didn't slow down the chorus of "buckwheating" going on....

My Narragansett tom thought the rain was so much better than the snow, much easier to strut his stuff....

Is this a face only a mother could love (or a turkey hen)?

Hey! Take a pic of ME! I am after all the handsomest male on the farm (this rooster did seem to demand I take his pic):)

There also were many soggy sheep, Bevin says "I hear it's dry back home in OR!!"

Matisse says "let's get the donkey to distract her and maybe we can escape and hitchhike back to OR.....or maybe go further South and go hang out on a CA beach....

The smart ones of the barnyard were these three girls, hanging out on a stall door. I honestly think they thought I would come over and hand feed them their breakfast.

The other smart ones were the kitties, Coopurrr and Hooch, snuggled up on the front porch.

My Witchhazels are starting to bloom, they have to be my favorite wintertime plant. The colors are so vibrant and defiant against the gray cloudy days.

Oh, I love the picture of you and big bird Ginger, I think it's priceless. I was happy to hear that the forcast for all of next week including the weekend is dry. YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

Wow, is Ginger really that tame? Poor, soggy Bevin. She definitely looks like a teenager now. I don't even know what a witchhazel bush/shrub/tree looks like; I've only seen close-ups of the blossoms. Do deer eat witchhazel, or could I plant them here?

Wow I was wondering what that plant was, I dont think I have ever seen witchhazel before, now I am going to have to watch for some!

What a funny picture! I didn't know that emus could be cuddly.

Hi Michelle, yes Ginger is that tame she loves being touched.

Michelle and Reddunappy, Witchhazel are pretty nondiscript during the summer but they turn beautiful colors on the Fall and then have unique flowers in the middle of winter. I have three different types. Some also have a lovely aroma. Not sure about the deer....

Beautiful pictures! Your two little moorit ewes look so sweet. I think that is a great picture of you and Ginger, you should see me when I go out to do chores!

Love the pictures! Did you go hand feed the poor chickens? It is a lot of work to have to jump down and go get food.

Those witch hazels are gorgeous. I didn't know they did that in winter. I must try to find some. Wonder if they grow in zone 5a....

Beautiful pictures! How cool that Ginger is so tame. My goats won't hardly leave their sheds if it is raining, apparently goats melt in the rain or at least that is what they think. They are a lot like your chickens, they want me to bring their breakfast too them if it is raining.

I can't believe it is STILL raining up there! I love the picture of you and Ginger - too funny.

The Witch hazel is awesome. Dose it normally stat to grow this time of year? I love the photo with you in it. All the critters look like they are happy even if they are all wet. I so enjoyed all the photos you shared.
Thanks Have a great day.

I love the photos of all your critters! But the shot of you and Ginger takes the cake. Have you ever heard of people starting to look like their animals? It's pretty common with people who own dogs, but maybe it applies to people with emus too. LOL

I thought that was witch hazel...I want some of that! My favorite pictures...besides the drowned guineas...was of you and Ginger!!! Tammy...I don't even own any makeup!! I can't believe your snow is all gone and there was still green stuff under there!! Wow. Well, I hope you all dry out a bit. We are in for bitter days to come. I don't like bitter.

Ginger could use a hairbrush too.

Definitely eat the eggs from your turkeys. Let me know. Your Narri's are gorgeous.

All the photo's are great, thx for the tour around the barnyard.

Fun post - I love Witch Hazel, it's one of my favorites!
Now, when exactly is it supposed to dry up and stop raining? I, too, heard the same rumor: "no rain through Friday" and was very excited about it - we've got quite a mess to clean up around here from the recent storms. But today, just like yesterday and the day before, it is definitely raining. sigh.
I love that picture of you - you have a very friendly face! :-)

I was going to ask if that was witch hazel. It is gorgeous. NOTHING blooms here, in January.

Love the pic of you with Ginger. I never knew one could get that close to an emu! :-)

Love your other pics, too. Guineas and turkeys, both, look so primitive. Lumps and bumps and "hairs"............

Just stopped by to say Hi. Hope you are staying warm. It was below 0 for us last night. But we are just fine inside the house. Have a great weekend.

Oh look Sisters! lol! What a funny pic of you and your girlie Emu. lol!

Wow! That snow melted fast. It seemed like just yesterday you were buried under it.

I enjoyed all the wet critter pics. I don't know why, but turkeys give me the willies. gah!

Your guineas are so pretty. I really want to get some guineas one day. :)

Stay warm and dry up there!
