A welcome sojourn to OR....

Thanks to all my concerned friends with my decision on re-homing all my sheep. I have really missed the blogging community and once again hope to visit daily. It is in the best interest of all involved (myself AND my sheep) that I continued on with my decision.

Recently Kylie and I went to deliver Duncan, my wonderful Shetland ram, to a wonderful lady that was to transport him to his new home. It was a fairly long drive down to Walton, which is east of Eugene, OR. I had originally planned on making it a day trip, but with all the stress in my life recently I decided to head on to the coast and stay overnight.

As we hit the coast the sun was shining, but we could see the fog was rolling in quickly. I snapped a few quick shots and then figured I had better find lodging as my headlights on my truck are not working (one of the many "issues" lately).

I stopped at The Adobe as I knew they had dog-friendly rooms. Summer, however, is a bad time to show up to the OR coast without reservations. When I inquired I was told there was "no room at the inn" but as I started to turn away, the receptionist said "Wait! We just had a cancellation!" It must have been meant to be!:)

Kylie and I checked into our room, opened the sliding door which led to a deck. The room faced the ocean and I must say the sound and smell of the ocean helped me to get the best sleep I have had in many months. Kylie and I explored and walked along the beach before retiring and then again in the morning before we left. I would not hesitate to stay there again, it was very pleasant. It amazed me...this whole wing was nothing but dogs and their owners and yet I only heard a bark once or twice during my whole stay.

The following day we headed up the coast. The following pics were taken from Kylie's and my stroll along one of the many lovely OR beaches....where even in the summer you can have your privacy. The first group is of Kylie enjoying herself, followed by some things that caught my eye. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy looking at them and reliving the moment, the experience gave me back some serenity.....

Beautiful pictures. I sure wish I lived near the ocean. It is a wonderful thing. You seem to enjoy being close to it.

Life and circumstances sure do have a way of getting the upper hand sometimes, but it looks like you and Kylie have found a way to make the best of it. All the pictures of him playing on the beach just blow me away, but the one where he's the farthest away...how serene...and the one below it where he's go three feet in the air...how joyous.

Such a calm beach. I love the pictures and so glad to here you found peace there. I know it was hard for you. I know the feeling you went through. I had to let my birds go when I moved here. Only Digger an African gray moved with us. I found him an awesome home down here with a traveling bird show. She loves all the attention the man had for him.

Wow.

The beach is my favorite place in the world to be, and you have caught everything I love about it.

(Well, ok, I can't hear or smell from your pics........ :-) )

Love the vistas, love the bits and pieces that caught your eye, love how much Kylie is loving it......

My fave is the one-foot-on-the-ground-with reflection.........

Thanks for sharing it with us.

I'm glad it brought you some peace.

I always feel like I can *breathe* at the beach................

So glad you were able to get away for some well-deserved rest and that you found peace. Watching and hearing the ocean waves is so restorative....and that smell...

I love all these photos, but the one of Kylie in the far distance and the one just below are outstanding! I love that fog rolling in, too.

Oh what lovely photos of the Oregon beach! I've never been to Oregon and I was blown away by all your wonderful photos. Now I really can't wait to go to the Black Sheep Gathering next year! I'm planning to fly into Portland then rent a car to head down to Eugene -- looks like I'd better allow plenty of time to play along the way. :-)

Tammy, although I'm still a little sad you felt you had to give up all your sheep, I'm thrilled that Mim is getting Duncan and all the other girls are in good homes. The beach is one of my favorite places, too, and Jackson is such a great beach dog - my first. So glad you found some serenity!

Your photos are gorgeous and it looked like Kylie benefited from your little time away on the coast. I'm sorry you're having to make such tough decisions.
I'm preparing to make a few of my own soon, too. It's never easy, my friend.

I miss the ocean sometimes. Maybe one day I'll be able to visit the PNW and walk on those same beautiful beaches as you have done.

It looks like you had a little bit of the time away that you needed and deserved. The beach was beautiful. It made me miss the northern Californian coast line. It's not the same over here in Massachusetts. Anyway I am glad you had a nice time.

I'm so sorry to hear that you've had to give up your critters - I'm excited to hear that Mim has Duncan tho - he will have a great home!

Glad you had a good time at the beach - it is beautiful there for sure. T.

Ah, the Oregon coast. No place like it in the world! :-)
I've stayed at the Adobe - it was wonderful...and their lounge has seats that make you actually feel like you're out on the rocks in the surf! It's awesome in a storm!
Glad you and Kylie had such a wonderful time!
