Harbinger of Fall?

What a surprise! There in a bed by the gate....my Fall crocuses in full bloom. Granted there has been a bit of a nip in the evening air....but really? Fall? I wandered around looking for other signs....

My Rugosa roses had no more blooms....the hips were there instead.....
But there were still Blueberries ,

and Raspberries,

Blackberries

and even a few Alpine strawberries..

My Katsuras looked as though they were starting to turn......

But my Butterfly Bush was still in full bloom......

The skies still look like Summer skies.......

But the true sign to me that it wasn't quite Fall yet...... Jasmine the donkey still is slick as can be.......

Looks like you live in a lovely place... reminds me of the farm I grew up on. =)

That donkey has to be about the cutest one I have ever seen. Love all the photos. Haven't had much luck growing berries here yet, you have inspired me to try again. Do you know if should I plant them now or is it better to wait till spring? I think I am going to start a list on the side bar of my blog if I can figure out how to do it, do you mind if I add yours?

Oh! What a lovely place! Thanks so much for the tour.

I can't believe you still have blackberries. The drought got all of ours--as it has for the past 2 years. I miss them so! Nothing like snatching a handful on the way to feed.

And I don't think I have EVER seen a spotted donkey! What a cutie-pie!

Jasmine has such delicious colors and markings. Alan has yet to shed out last winter's coat; George had a two-week window of being slick and is growing in this winter's coat. I think their move from the BLM ranges near Death Valley this time last year, then to here in New Mexico at the end of October, confused the heck out of their little bodies.

I'm still nibbling on alpine strawberries when I can get them. Wish I'd have had the forethought to pop them in the freezer throughout the summer... I might have had enough for at least some freezer jam or something.

Do they taste a bit like grapes to you? My daughter says bubblegum, but I'm thinking grape.

Russell isn't fluffy yet, but I can tell his winter coat is coming in. He's certainly made way for it with all the short summer hair he's been losing!
