I think Winter is early........
More snow.....no temps above freezing for the next week and maybe longer....trying to think positive....great photo opportunities right? I just feel bad for my barnyard animals. :(
If it weren't for my constant worry about my animals I might even have felt sorry for myself. The times I slid backwards down the hill (actually a mountain) yesterday, trying to get home and wound up stuck sideways with the sphincter factor definitely going (the drop off on one side of the switchback would definitely be the end of me....and that was the way my vehicle was pointing), then the almost three hour wait to have my snow tires put on at Les Schwabs.....to the 3 hours spent getting my new braces on my teeth.....(hello Ugly Betty!).
But then I do make it home, I get to admire the snowy valley.....
Then there are the dogs, who definitely know how to enjoy a brisk day!
I hope I continue to think positive and I'm sure hoping everyone across the US (and anywhere else it's really cold now) are managing to stay warm!

Hope your snow tires keep you from further trouble, that sounds pretty scary. Ahhhh, the mountains in winter-absolutely breathtakingly beautiful! Lucky you. I long to live in the mountains.
Wow -- totally gorgeous there!
Our snow melted in yesterday's rain (and we haven't had anything like as much as you've got, yet).
I confess I like snow better when I am inside than outside, but better snow than freezing rain.....
I second Karen's hope that your snow tires keep you firmly on the road!
Les Schwab had a great commercial, several years ago, with Pembroke corgis pulling a sled and beating all the huskies..... :-)
ps -- I think of emus as being hot weather birds. So interesting that they don't seem to mind the snow!
Let's hear it for snow tires and getting home safely!
Stunning pictures, thanks for sharing!
Harmony,
Janet
I thought your hill was tough to climb in 75 degree dry weather, I can't imagine snow and ice. I hope you don't have the same trouble again and no pucker factor. The view from your place is just beautiful especially with snow on the mounatins. We got some snow down south also and I finally had to break out the new heater for the sheeps water trough, I was tired of breaking out 1" think ice. I'll be glad when it warms up some.
Wow what a beautiful view. I feel bad for my critters too but they seem to be fine.
Aw, Tammy, I love that we're close enough that our area totally has the same forecast as you! I can't believe it won't get above freezing all week - and...you heard about the extreme snow that is supposed to hit on Wednesday?
Great photo ops is right, but oh, our poor critters!
Hey, congrats on your braces! How long will you have to wear them?
Beautiful pictures and a great post!
What a beautiful spot! I love the snow :o)
Emu's in the snow though?! Now there's a sight!!
I love your winter landscape! It makes your Sheba look utterly gorgeous, in fact, snow suits her in the same what that sand suits Sheba Alkawali! Sorry about you having to fight the weather but so glad you get to enjoy the fabulous view!
Hi Tammy, I am so glad you are ok. You live in a truly beautiful place. I love mountains but I know a little of the danger involved. I was born in West Virginia. And have visited it a number of times. We hit 6-12 degrees our first taste of bitter cold too.
Stay say and warm.

I just woke up and the temp is -28, WITHOUT windchill! The HIGH today is -9. Feel sorry for MY animals too :)
I love the snow, just hate the cold!
OMG, what breathtaking views! And all you have to do is step outside your door. I'm so jealous as I'm sitting here looking outside at the flat, gray surroundings that definitely DO NOT inspire me. You are so lucky to live in such an awesome place. I'm jealous.
Beautiful animal pics, too!
It is very beautiful, yet also terrifying. So glad you didn't have an accident! Everything takes so much longer in the winter, and yet I still love it.
But we don't have as many animals as you. I would worry too. And Don does all the worrying about the chickens. :|
Wow, you got a bunch of snow! We were lucky and the snow hit town worse than it did where we live. I definitely worry about the animals too. I love the picture of Sheba in front of the snow covered trees. Stay safe!
Unbelievably, Breathtakingly BEAUTIFUL!!!
What gorgeous pictures! You know, I think you really summed up why I hate winter so much, it isn't the snow or the ice, it is my constant worry about my outside animals when the weather gets this cold. Let's face it we just can't bring the horse and 24 goats in the house when it gets this cold, I do everything I can go keep them warm but I worry about them, a lot when the weather is like this. I think that is the real reason I hate winter and I just never truly realized that was the foundation of my dislike for winter until I read your post today.
I love your blog! Glad I stumbled across it today.
OOhhh yikes! I'm glad your trusty Subaru took you up the hill without a trip down the hill! That would have had me cringing.
Looks like all your animals are happy, except for that poor rooster. He doesn't look happy at all... :)
Danni, they said the braces will be on from 10 to 18 months....I'm hoping for 10!:)
Tammy, I almost miss all the excitment on the hill when it snowed. Sorry you were part of it, though. That is a cliff. No guardrail yet? I sure appreciate seeing all the pictures. It reminds me of why we had lived there in the first place.. Your poor chickies look soo cold. Be glad you aren't dealing with the minus 7 degrees we have been having here.
Today it only snowed about 10 inches but it is still snowing!!
Hey, there's Ruby Ann's brother!! I showed her but couldn't get a rise out of her...

Sending positives your way!!!
You have the most incredible views
Tammy!
No more mountain sliding!! Your critters need you!
oh oh. Forgot to mention, congrats on the braces!! Way to go. You deserve it but I always thought you had a nice smile anyway..
